Impostor....

Days before the ABS CBN TV adaptation of Impostor premiered on TFC, I read the book/novel it was based on and posted it on by tagalog pocketbook blog thinking and hoping the adaptation would stay true to what the author, Martha Cecilia originally wrote but after seeing the first 3 episodes, I'm absolutely sure a lot of the plot is going to change... making the series just a loose adaptation of the story's original plot.

I know I have said before that TV adaptation of books are almost always different than what was in the book and the changes are made make it more suited and more appealing to the viewing public. Of course, in addiction TV adaptations tend to have back stories (the story or side stories behind the main plot.) that tends to add spice to the plot but it also tends to stretch the storyline and therefore, the plot can turn stale if the script isn't as well-written

Here are some instances, that's going to make a big impact on how and why the plot might change and far different that's what is written in the book. Minor changes first....

  • Anthony Florencio is originally Jason Florencio in the book.
  • TV character, Popoy (Devin's bestfriend ) in the TV adaptation is non-existent in the book. Devin's bestfriend in the book is a schoolmate and stays at the same boarding house as Devin in Manila, named Nina. (Devin was sent to Manila to study by her father after her father remarried. Her mother, died in a horse riding accident.)
  • While Devin in the book, didn't know Mariz personally before the car accident that took Mariz' life. In the TV adaptation however, made it clear, that both Anthony and Mariz knew who Devin was.
  • The character of Precious Lara Quigaman (I forgot her character's name.) Mariz' sister is also not in the book.
  • Joshua, Anthony and Mariz' son in the book is actually the son of Mariz and long-time lover, Julio in the TV series.
and many more...

But one of the things I like of the series is the theme song, Kung Ako Na Lang Sana, originally sang by Bituin Escalante. Vina Morales lends her voice for the series' theme :
