Before I get back to this business of the longest post ever, I just had to remind everybody that today is actually April Fools Day! But for me it's just an ordinary day, not to mention, Holy Thursday for us, Roman Catholics so me and parents just attended the 7 pm mass at St. Philomena.
I know most of you are going to ask me me why, my posting everything here lately is getting rather long and SLOW.... well, I've been reading a lot lately so sometimes if I can't put a book down, my blogging gets set aside. (SIGH)
Ok, so back to my last weekend's surprise....
So as it turned out, Oliver "Oli" Garcia III was Bunny and Sam's surprise guest for me. So how come we 3 girls (Bunny, Me and Sam) stayed best friends while Oliver was not in the picture anymore? From what I still can recall at the time, Oliver's dad had a job in shipping company in Los Angeles, but then the company relocated and so the family had no choice but to move from here to Sacramento CA and it is expected that we don't get to talk, communicate and interact with him as much as before until we all got busy with our own individual stuff and communication completely went out.
Then about a couple and a half weeks ago, Sam and her Mom visited a very sick relative (Sam's Uncle) who just had a heart attack and had to undergo an emergency bypass operation. So Sam and her mom visited him at Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento and one of her uncle's attending RNs is Oliver! Sam didn't recognize Oliver at first but he recognized her so that started everything! Bunny got to see Oliver the other weekend when I was out with the flu.
Oliver and I talked and played catch up in a corner while the others are all in a huddle since he was already acquainted with our other friends from the last get together I wasn't able to attend. It was like the "2 geeks" of our old foursome group got together! Yeah geeks! We were the geeks! He said he didn't recognize me because I am a lot slimmer, no more braces and buck tooth and no glasses. (I wore my contacts that night.) I told him the same thing, he changed a lot and he even looked a lot better out of the nurse uniform he wore when he arrived and changed into his casual attire.
We talked about a lot of things from what happened to me/him in the last decade or so, our love life, his family, my family, our old neighbors and other common friends, etc. I'm glad to hear that he's doing well as a registered nurse at Sutter Medical and a part time job at another medical facility, he moved out of his parents house 2 years ago but had to move back in to help his parents financially instead of having to rent he explained he'd rather give his supposedly rent money to help his parents since his two other siblings are already married and live in other states.
But I'm a little sad and disappointed for him that he recently broke up with his 2 year and a half girlfriend a few months ago, he said she works at the same hospital he's in but different department. I told him he's still luckier than me in the "love department" as it it has been ages since I last had a boyfriend! And he goes, "Maybe you're just being too picky!!!" and I was like, "Me? Picky? In my case, I HAVE NO RIGHT TO BE PICKY! LOL!
I joked about him and Sam being nurses and maybe if ever I get sick (heaven forbid) again I can get "free" private nurses because of them! Because among the four of us back then (Me, Bunny, Oliver and Sam) I am always the one in and out of hospitals a lot. I was over weight and had other medical related problems. So for me, FREE NURSE FRIENDS ARE ALWAYS GOOD!
At around 10 pm we all decided to continue the "party" at a friend's house nearby since we couldn't stay longer at Koji after 10 pm. Talked and drank a bit and played group games like "Gestures" and "Taboo"
Oliver and I exchanged cell numbers and addresses and he said he's going to see "Daddy Flor" (that's how he used to call my dad, hey, most of my friends call my Dad that!) one of these days and ask for some tax advice and probably get a better amount on his refund check! (Hey hurry up dude! Filing season is almost over!)
All in all, it was very nice to get reacquainted with an old friend again...
NICE TO SEE HIM BACK.
