I Think I Cried A River....

Ok, call me silly... but I was practically bawling as I watched the final episode of Did We Really Love? (우리가 정말 사랑했을까) and now I remember why it took me years before I saw this series again. The ending was expected, but very sad and depressing. I felt really sorry for the two main leads, Jae-Ho and Shin-Hyung, who went through a lot just to prove to each other and to all the people around them that they were meant to be.

Remember my posts, Love Or Money Parts 1 & 2? Since then, the male lead character, Jae-Ho was diagnosed with a brain tumor and is inoperable. His engagement with Hyun-Soo was called off, (due to a lot of factors, but the gist of it all, Hyun-Soo gave in, and surrendered Jae-Ho to the only woman he ever loved all his life, Shin-Hyung) and he and Shin-Hyung got back together. But due to the disappointment and anguish that Jae-Ho inflicted upon Shin-Hyung and her parents, they disapproved of their daughter marrying Jae-Ho, more so now that he is diagnosed with a tumor. (In the past, Jae-Ho backed out of his previous engagement to Shin-Hyung, and chose to be with Hyun-Soo for money.)

After sometime, both Jae-Ho and Shin-Hyung finally got the consent of Shin-Hyung's parents and Jae-Ho's aunt to get married and they did get married, but shortly after that, Jae-Ho's condition worsened till it got to the point that he couldn't see and hear anymore because of the tumor that's still spreading and chemotherapy treatments can't do much anymore.

About 5 minutes before the end of the final episode, Jae-Ho was talking with his wife, Shin-Hyung before going to bed, and he said he'd do anything just to be able to see her face and hear her voice once more. He smiled and added "Perhaps, I'll see and hear you in my dreams tonight..." (*TEARY-EYED*) The next morning, the clock on the wall showed 5 minutes past 10, Shin-Hyung wakes up beside Jae-Ho, who had died in his sleep with a solemn smile on his face, implying that he probably saw and heard Shin-Hyung in a dream before he passed away.

(I THINK I'M GOING TO CRY AGAIN...)

I know these dramas can't always have a happy ending... but this is probably the saddest/most depressing ending I saw!
