K- drama Musings....

As I have pointed out in a past post. I've been watching, MBC's 2006 drama series, What Planet Are You From? ( also known as Which Star Are You From?) A k-drama series I've purchased from a while back, that I didn't get to finish before. I've just finished Episode 12 of 16 tonight and it's kinda tragic in the sense that a person can't really choose who to fall in love with or when to fall in love. The four main characters are somewhat all tangled up with what happened in the past and they can't seem to get out of it.

Actor Kim Rae Won (김래원) plays male lead character Choi Seung Hee, used to be a world renound director, who at one time was at the top of his game, til a fetal car accident took the life of the woman he loves, Hye Soo (played by Jeong Ryeo Won (정려원).... (which he blames himself for because he was the one the one behind the wheel at the time) and everything fell apart since then.

3-4 years later, his long time friend, Han Jeong-hoon (played by Park Shi-hoo) wanted to give him a break, by giving him an assignment to shoot a music video as a test run before assigning him to direct a full length movie.

Seung Hee was scouting for a place to shoot his music video in some remote countryside, when he caught sight of Bok-Shil, (also played by, Jeong Ryeo Won (정려원) ) a simple country girl, who looks a lot like his deceased girlfriend, Hye Soo.

Little did he know that by some twist of fate the spunky country girl, Bok-Shil, who seemed to annoy him a lot at first, but later on will grow fond of her and eventually fall in love with is the long-lost younger sister of Hye Soo, Hye Rim,who's been missing since she was still a baby.

Actually I think, it would have been easier for both lead characters to just love each other if they weren't caught up with what was in the past, you know, Seung Hee being the ex-boyfriend of Hye Rim /Bok Shil's older sister, Hye Soo. And to top it off, Hye-Rim's / Bok Shil's biological mom hated / blamed Seung Hee for Hye Soo's death and therefore she is still angry and afraid that Hye-Rim might share the same fate as her deceased sister because of falling for Seung Hee.

And Mi-Hyun, Hye Rim's cousin also has feelings for Seung-Hee for quite a while (probably even way before Seung Hee and Hye Soo hooked up.) and the same goes for Han Jeong-hoon, who also had feelings for Hye Soo, before she and Seung Hee met, now he also is attracted to Hye Rim. (Actually, I think Han Jeong-hoon has the upper hand when Hye Rim's family is concerned because both Hye Rim's biological mom and grandpa wanted Han Jeong-hoon for Hye Rim as her future husband, but of course, Hye-Rim only loves Seung Hee.)

In my opinion, no person can share the exact same fate with another, no matter the circumstances they're in. There will always be something or a factor that will be different, therefore, things will almost always turn out different that what has already happpened in the past.
