I just ordered my Limited Edition Boys Over Flowers DVD Set today!
Yes, I know I've been having second thoughts on ordering this version (Korean Limited Edition Region 3) because I was hoping to get english-subtitled extras like bloopers/NGs, specials talk show guestings, etc. that I'm pretty sure that I won't be getting in this set since it's the very first version to come out from Korea, but when I told my Dad that I'm planning to buy it, he asked me what else am I waiting for since I already have the money to buy it. I told him that I was waiting for an US Version of this series. He then suddenly tells me that "What if the original Korean production company (KBS) or any other american licensing companies won't be able to release a set in the US?"
Come to think of it, there is still no news of a confirmation whether or not YA Entertainment or KBS America would release Region 1 US Version of Boys Over Flowers. Some posters from Soompi wrote YA Entertainment and had gotten the same response, that YAE's still negotiating for licensing rights to release a YA version of Boys Over Flowers on DVD. So that could mean two things:
- It could take some time before there is going to be a US version available. And if things didn't go well with the negotiations, there won't be a US version out for release.
- And if ever there is going to be a US release, it won't be sure either if the extras (if ever there are extras included) are going to be english-subbed.
Of course, waiting for the legalities to get all ironed out is by all means fine to K-Drama DVD Collectors like myself who just want their Drama sets worth the money they get it for, meaning DVDs with crisp and clear video and audio, nice/well designed packaging, lots of extras like deleted scenes, bloopers and specials, excellent English subtitles on episodes and on extras as well if possible.
But getting Korean Limited Edition is not that bad either, considering it has a lot of other extras too other than English Subtitled extras. I paid a whopping $113.66 ($99 + 11.66 shipping) for it, Double the usual price of my drama boxed sets bought at the regular retail price.
I'll be posting my own pictures as soon as I get it.... and I sure wouldn't mind watching the series all over again (I had to test the DVDs of course) when it gets here.
*SO EXCITED*
Am I still buying a US version if ever it does come out? Well, that depends... if the extras are going to be totally different than what is in this set.... another good question would be : Will I have the money to buy it if the US Version has the DVD extras that are subtitled.
I'M BROKE...
BUT VERY HAPPY!!!!!
